Water blasting equipment shall be capable of producing up to
40,000 psi of pressure. The equipment shall be capable of adjusting
the pressure to accomplish removal without damaging the paving
surface.
The equipment shall be capable of following a straight line
and be maneuverable to accommodate various pavement markings.
The spray width needs to be able to accommodate lines from 4"
to 8" wide.
If water blasting is used to remove lines in open traffic, a
vacuum system needs to be provided to allow for timely repainting.
Removal
Pavement markings shall be removed to the fullest extent possible
by water blasting. This process shall not materially damage the
surface or leave a detrimental residue of discoloration.
